...or a LOT distracted would probably be more like it, lol!
I finished Twilight and all three other books over the last week ;) I can't even say how much I have enjoyed these. I heard about them first a few months ago and put off getting the first one, thinking that I may not like them. Oh...was I wrong.
I picked up Twilight last week at Target while grocery shopping, brought it home and began reading it the next day not realizing how totally lost, distracted, inattentive, preoccupied, absent-minded, immersed, fascinated, intent, wrapped up, and completely captivated I was going to be. I couldn't read Twilight fast enough, rushed out to get New Moon, saw the Twilight movie, grabbed the last two books and devoured them as well in just over a week :) I'm so glad that it was a slow week for school and the last week of hunting season.... I had plenty of time to devote to the story :) The only problem I found was that it wasn't long enough - another four novels would have been alright by me :)
If you read...at all....you must give this one a try! It's just a fantastic story...a perfect escape from the everyday. I can't wait until the Twilight dvd is released and New Moon opens in the fall....sigh :) And, just so you know I've really got it bad, I've opened Twilight again for round two....albeit at a little slower pace this time :)
Now that I'm coming out of my dazed, confused, and somewhat giddy Twilight-induced trance, I've realized that there has been very little blogging, photo taking, commenting, and emailing going on....sorry ;) I'll be around to visit this weekend and answer all the emails....if I don't answer any specific questions that you may have asked, please just drop me a line again, because you know, that Twilight trance is pretty powerful..... :)

I'm thinking about going a little more natural with personal products like this.....
Maybe I'll try my hand at this kind of soap making, but I prefer castile soaps, so I may try those instead, even though they do have quite a long cure time.
We're seriously considering doing this.... I know, I know...this may be shocking to some of you ;)
We've always had quite a few chickens for eggs, but this year are considering taking it a step further. The reason is not because it's cheaper, because it will not be, however the reasons are purely for health and that we will know exactly where ours came from and how they were fed. We have the property for it and I think it will be an educational experience for the kids and for us all to connect with where our food comes from. We're still in the planning and thinking stage....but, I'll let ya know! ;)
I'm still interested in gardening and doing so as organically as possible. I'm thinking about the best way to lay out our garden this year and will hopefully be preparing my soil later this week.
I almost always cook at home, very rarely eating out. But, I'm still thinking about different ways to cook the same old thing and how to stretch leftovers or save them to create another meal entirely.
I've been thinking a great deal about time management this new year. This is definitely one area that must be included in my commitment for this year! I love the tips here....they could easily fit into my daily life. Of course, I need a list to follow :)
I want to re-read this book and take advantage of more of the great ideas included. I already use a few recipes and ideas that I've come to love...I'll share some of those soon!
I want to begin reading this book. I bought it right before Christmas, but I still haven't had the time to sit down and read it. I hope it's as good as it looks!
I want to make more time to get involved in a Bible Study like this or something entirely on my own...I need to get back in the habit of dailiness in this area :)
So.....as I sit with a morning cup of coffee (and the keyboard) in my hands, these are the things that are on my mind today......what's on your mind?
Have a great Tuesday!

Okay - as part of my commitment to stay more motivated with our homeschool, a little organizing was required because everything and I mean every thing seems to stay in a state of chaos. Many times I have a "bright idea" that ends up being totally wrong, but lately, I've been having "no" ideas about what to do with all this stuff! You'd think that after 5 1/2 years, I may have it sort of figured out by now, lol!
This used to be in a drawer near our dining room table...yes...just one drawer. I have to wonder how I fit it all in there. It worked well so long as I had just organized it and no little hands had touched it yet ;)
This is now on the kitchen counter (luckily I do have lots of space) in baskets and looks neat....for the moment. But, this doesn't even scratch the surface of what's best to do with all the books and paper. I should have taken a photo of that side of the room, lol! I feel like I'm at a loss with what to do with it all.
What are your suggestions? What works in your house? What works for your kids? Please share any tips you have...I need all the help I can get.

I never shared :) The busyness of the holiday week and wedding photographs and all the processing and organization of those photos made me forget all about sharing the quilt I had talked about making, lol! I nearly forgot to even get a photo of it....I snapped these few before I put it in the gift bag by draping it over the back of the couch. I had planned on taking it outside in the fresh air and sunshine to hang on the clothes line while I took some grand pictures, however, it has been so gray and foggy and humid and rainy lately that this is the best I could do :) I am so glad that for the last couple of days we have had beautiful sunshine and spring-like temps. The air outside has been light and just perfect! There is no better way to lift those cold winter spirits than a warm, sunnny day.
Now, on to my quilt. I finished it when I was hoping to and I am so pleased with how it has turned out. I love the Ava Rose fabrics together and the blend of red and white is my favorite. I made this quilt by following the general directions in Bend The Rules Sewing. Have you had your hands on that book yet? I LOVE that book! It is absolutely full of wonderful ideas and projects. It is sort of like a little encouragement book written by a friend or at least that is how I feel when I read through it every time. The incredibly cute projects with great generalized instructions that make you feel like you can change anything she suggests at any time is just my kind of sewing book since I'm not really a "follow the instructions to the letter" kind of gal ;) I have always had a hard time with following instructions (especially recipes), lol.....not that I don't want to do it as said, but always wanting to do things in the way that is best or easiest for me. Hmmm...I now have to wonder what that says about me... :)
Anyway, I pieced the quilt top in different sized rectangular pieces and the backing is mostly white with a strip of the printed fabrics. I made the binding from rotating strips of white fabric and the floral print fabric. This was the first time I tried binding on a quilt and am pleased to say that it went perfectly. The top half was machine done and I hand stitched the back of the binding, which requires a really long movie to accomplish :) I think my mother in law really liked the quilt and the red and white will fit in perfectly in her house. All in all, I am really pleased with it. Enough so that I plan on purchasing some of this gorgeous fabric to make my two girlies a new quilt for their beds. Then, hopefully, before I run out of quilt-steam, I'd love to make another for my own bed. Really, what better way to fill the dreary winter grayness than with all this gorgeous fabric and dreams of spring?
That is exactly what I hope to do with my time this weekend...dream of spring, unwind from the holiday season, unwind from my mind being so cluttered with to-do's, trying to refocus my direction - with school work, house work, and where my quality time is spent, start mentally planning some things I'd like to accomplish the rest of this winter, also decide on my word for the year. I haven't had much free time to really think about and consider a word that will fit my goals for myself this year, so although I'm a little late deciding, I hope to have chosen my word and start putting it into use by next week. So do you have a word for this year? I know some other blogging friends who do and I find it fascinating to hear the words of others and why they were chosen...if you want to share your ideas with me, I'm all ears ;)
Happy Friday...Happy Weekend!
